Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the questions that are frequently asked on discord.

Q: When will the next version of tetra be released?
A: I develop tetra in my free time so it's difficult to provide estimates on when things will be done. I post devlogs on Patreons if you want to keep up with what I'm working on, I occasional post preview releases there as well.

Q: Is there a Fabric version of tetra?
A: Tetra is currently only available for the Forge modloader, there is no Fabric version. Tetra is still in active development, it may become relevant to make it available for other mod loaders once most features are complete.

Q: I like a recently added feature, will it be backported to work with an older minecraft version?
A: I try to fix up critical issues in tetra for older minecraft versions, but new features will typically be developed for the the latest version of Minecraft. Luckily Tetra is open source and other developers are welcome to submit Pull Requests to backport features.

Q: I need a tier X tool to craft a certain module, how can I get that tool?
A: The two advancement tabs covers how to obtain higher tier tools, check those out if you're stuck. In short you'll need to find ancient ruins to get the highest tier hammer (but a blackstone hammer will do in most cases) and a shortblade to get the highest tier cutting implement, netherite should do for the rest of the tools.

Other mods or datapacks may add higher tier tools, tier 7 is the highest tool tier available in base Tetra.

Q: I can't find the ancient ruins, what should I do?
A: Ruins are most commonly found in deepslate (or around y=20 before 1.20) in cold or mountaineous biomes, the biome name in the F3 menu typically tells if it's considered cold or mountaineous.
It's possible to upgrade the holosphere in a workbench so that it can scan for structures. The percussion scanner allows one to scan larger areas for ruins while the sweeper upgrade makes it easier to pinpoint the location of a nearby ruin.

Note that the range of the sweeper is not enough for ruins to be discovered while on the surface, the range can be viewed and tweaked in a workbench.

The ruins are not available in 1.18. All loot can be crafted and hammer progression has been altered, check the advancements for the updated progression.
